Slate Monolith SM235 Standing Stone Case Study

Slate Monolith SM235 Standing Stone Case Study features a stunning colourful premium welsh slate monolith. Green tones blend seamlessly with deeper Plum slate tones. Colour banding like this is very rare and difficult to source in the quarry. Sourced direct from the quarry in North Wales and sawn in the workshop. The client was a local council based in Buckinghamshire and wanted a Large Monolith to celebrate 130 years of a parish council.

After discussing requirements with the council, they decided on attaching a plaque onto the slate monolith rather than engraving directly onto the slate. We also organised the delivery and installation on site using one of our trusted local installers. Using a tried and tested technique popular in the installation of memorials, the slate was core drilled underneath with a ground anchor rod secured and then fastened to a stone plinth which was secured and cemented into the ground. This ensures good stability and security and the client can be rest assured this will not topple over as it’s fixed so well.

We have a number of large Slate Monoliths in stock which can all be cut, dressed and if applicable, engraved with house names, number or could be used as memorial stones. Not all of our stock has been added to the website as we can constantly visiting the quarry this time of year to restock on more stone. We also convert stones into bird baths by carving a bowl in the top to contain water. A recent example is Stone Bird Bath SBB13. Alternatively Stone Boulder SB52 could work as a focal point or natural garden seat. Contact us with your requirements.
